Filmmaker Alireza Jahanifar has recently completed a documentary that recounts the life story of Marjan Nazqelichi, a Turkmen woman who was the governor of Bandar Turkaman, the northeastern Iranian town with a Turkmen population.
The idea of making the documentary titled “Nazqelichi” entered Jahanifar’s mind in April 2014, when she was appointed as the governor of the town, he said in a press release published on Sunday by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center, the producer of the film.
Born in 1974, Nazqelichi died in the Mina stampede on September 24, 2015. She served as governor to Bandar Turkaman for about 17 months.
